Older Vocations & Applications From Other Countries

It is not only young men who feel called to the priesthood. Sometimes the call comes later in life, including to men who have been widowed and whose children are no longer dependant. The dioceses of England and Wales have a special seminary dedicated to the formation of older, or ‘late’, vocations. Many dioceses do, however, have a maximum age limit for starting formation.

The Archdiocese of Southwark is enriched by the presence of priests and seminarians from a wide variety of ethnic backgrounds. However, in common with the other dioceses of England and Wales, we have a policy of not accepting applications from abroad. All our applicants must be legitimately resident in the United Kingdom.
